When I mention to people that I work from home, nine times out of ten they will make some remark (9) .......... the amount of television I must watch, or the frequency with which I must take naps in lieu of working. Invariably they will add that they could never (10) .......... it — that they lack sufficient self-discipline to manage (11) .......... . In my experience, however, (12) .......... worked from home for several years, discipline rarely enters (13) .......... the equation at all. The imperative to earn a living concentrates the mind admirably. I can barely find a moment to (14) .......... a breath during the course of a working day, so considerable is the volume of tasks I must complete. There are moments of solitude, certainly, but I would not exchange the arrangement for a conventional office environment under any circumstances. The freedom (15) .......... being one's own employer far outweighs whatever ancillary benefits a salaried position might offer. When people ask how I resist the distractions that inevitably (16) .......... with being at home, I tend simply to smile and reply: 'It's perfectly manageable — my employer is extraordinarily lenient.'
