Transcript

EXTRACT ONE [ELLIE]: Did those trainers finally arrive? You were checking the delivery page every ten minutes yesterday. [JOSH]: Yeah, they came this morning, but they're enormous. I chose my usual size, then changed the colour at the last minute, and the page quietly switched back to a different size. I didn't notice until I opened the box. They look great, though, which is annoying. [ELLIE]: Oh, that's easy to miss. Can't you send them back with the label in the box, and are you ordering the smaller pair tonight? [JOSH]: There wasn't a label. Apparently you download it from your account, but the order vanished from the app for a while. It's back now, so I've printed the label and I'm dropping the parcel off after work. I won't order again tonight. The shop in town sells the same brand, so I'll try them on there first. If it hasn't got that colour, I can order it once I know the right size. I'm away next weekend, so I'd rather sort it in the shop than have another box arriving while nobody's home. EXTRACT TWO [BEN]: How was that yoga class? You looked slightly worried when you left the office with the mat. [PRIYA]: I was. I'd only done videos at home, and I thought everyone else would know exactly what they were doing. Actually, half the room were beginners. The teacher showed an easier version of each movement, so nobody had to pretend. [BEN]: That's good. Did it feel rushed, with it being at lunchtime? [PRIYA]: The class didn't. It finished on time, and there was a proper few minutes at the end just lying still. The changing room was the awkward bit. Another class had finished just before ours, so there was a queue for everything, and I got back to my desk with wet hair. [BEN]: Are you going again next Thursday? [PRIYA]: I'm going to try Tuesday. The receptionist said it's much quieter then, and I can leave my things in a locker without waiting. I liked the class enough to keep going; I'd just rather not spend the last ten minutes worrying about the shower queue. Oh, and they lend out mats, so I don't need to carry mine on the bus next time. EXTRACT THREE [ANA]: You found that parcel, then? I saw you walking up and down the road with the delivery photo on your phone. [LEO]: Eventually. The photo showed a blue door and the edge of a plant pot, which wasn't much help because three houses here have both. I thought it was at number eighty, but the driver had left it at eighteen. The numbers look almost identical from the pavement. [ANA]: Did the people there realise it wasn't theirs? [LEO]: Yeah. They'd put it inside because it had started raining, then gone out. When they came back, they brought it round straight away. They were really apologetic, though it obviously wasn't their fault. The box was fine, and the headphones inside still work. [ANA]: So are you going to complain to the delivery company? [LEO]: I'll report the wrong address, but I'm not asking them to bring it to the house again. There's a locker beside the supermarket, and I pass it most evenings. It means one more code to remember, but at least I'll know where the parcel is. Honestly, I spent longer looking for that blue door than I did choosing the headphones.
