1. Who we are
practice-english.com is a free educational platform for Cambridge C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency preparation. This policy explains what information we use to provide the site and improve its content.
2. Information we process
- Account data: email address, display name and account identifier when you create an account or use Google sign-in.
- Learning data: scores, attempts, progress and, when you choose to use those features while signed in, writing responses, speaking transcripts and feedback.
- Local browser data: locally saved scores, XP, streaks, daily goals and preferences. This can be cleared from browser settings.
- Cookieless analytics: PostHog receives page views, device/performance information and explicitly recorded learning events. The integration does not use cookies, local storage or session storage for analytics identity; autocapture and session recording are disabled.
Analytics events do not include email addresses, answer text, writing responses or speaking transcripts. Some events include a page path, CEFR level, score or broad assistant-referral category when relevant.
3. Why we use this information
- To authenticate accounts and save requested progress.
- To provide exercises, scoring, leaderboards and feedback.
- To understand which content and features are useful and improve reliability and performance.
- To operate disclosed affiliate or donation links after you choose to follow them.
4. Service providers
- Supabase: authentication, database and account-linked learning data. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- PostHog: cookieless product analytics. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
- Google: OAuth sign-in and, when enabled, Google AdSense advertising services. The current AdSense integration is limited to ownership verification and ad serving is disabled.
- External sites: Amazon, Preply and Buy Me a Coffee process information under their own policies after you leave our site.
5. Advertising and consent
Ad serving is currently disabled on practice-english.com. If Google AdSense is enabled in the future, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers, IP address and similar technologies to deliver, measure, limit and, where permitted, personalise advertisements. These technologies may process information about visits to this and other websites in accordance with Google's policies and applicable law.
Before personalised advertising is enabled for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we will use an appropriate Google-certified consent management platform and request consent where required. Visitors can manage Google personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings and can learn about other participating providers and available controls at aboutads.info. 6. Retention and your choices
Account-linked learning data is kept while the account remains active, unless deletion is requested. Local browser data can be cleared at any time. You can object to cookieless analytics by blocking the requests in your browser or by contacting us; this does not affect access to the learning platform.
