Bread making — Part 5

"Bread making" is a Cambridge C2 Proficiency Reading Part 5 practice exam (Multiple-Choice Cloze). This paper rewards close reading, inference and awareness of text organisation. Work under timed conditions when possible — the combined Reading and Use of English paper allows 90 minutes across Parts 1–7. When my neighbour offered to teach me how to bake bread, I expected the process to be fairly (21). I soon discovered that small details matter. The dough had to be mixed for longer than I expected, and my neighbour told me to (22) going until it felt smooth. We then left it in a warm place to (23). The smell while it was cooking was (24).
