Joining a gymPart 6

"Joining a gym" is a Cambridge C2 Proficiency Reading Part 6 practice exam (Open Cloze). This paper rewards close reading, inference and awareness of text organisation. Work under timed conditions when possible — the combined Reading and Use of English paper allows 90 minutes across Parts 1–7. After completing the exercise, use review mode to understand why each answer is correct and note any vocabulary or discourse patterns you missed.

I joined a small gym in January because I wanted to become fitter. Before choosing it, I visited three places to see (27) one felt most comfortable. The gym I chose is close enough (28) walk to from home. I was worried (29) using weights at first, but a trainer showed me a simple programme. I have gone twice a week (30) then. Some evenings are busy, so I arrive early (31) possible. What keeps me going is the fact (32) I feel much better after exercising. The change has become part of my normal routine, and I now notice the benefits more clearly than I did at the beginning. It has also encouraged me to plan ahead and make small practical improvements. The routine now feels normal, and I find it easier to plan each week.
