Costume Curator
My role as a costume curator placed me inside a theatre wardrobe archive, where an early assumption soon failed. During a theatre wardrobe archive, garments became meaningful when repair histories were linked to productions. That moment required the costume curator to redefine what a defensible record should contain. The practical change was combining object records with rehearsal photographs and interviews. In a theatre wardrobe archive, this slowed one stage but made later choices easier to review and challenge. What I retained from a theatre wardrobe archive is that a collection becomes usable through relationships, not volume alone. Completion matters less to me now than a decision another practitioner can reconstruct.
