I learned that a machine can pass every scheduled test and still be difficult to trust. I now record the brief hesitations passengers mention, even when sensors show no fault. Those reports often reveal timing problems that formal inspections miss.
I explain repairs in terms of the journey people experience, not only the component replaced. A technically successful repair can fail if users cannot recognise that the behaviour has changed. My handover log starts with the passenger’s exact description and the journey on which it occurred.
I add car load, direction and time, then note the mechanical explanations I checked and rejected. The next engineer can therefore recognise whether a later hesitation belongs to the same pattern. I also state which change in frequency, sound or movement would justify reopening a repair that currently appears successful.
At review meetings I replay short journeys in sequence, because an isolated reading can make a hesitation look random. The pattern often appears only when passenger descriptions are aligned with load, direction and the moment the doors begin to close.
