B2 First pathway

B2 Upper-intermediate English

B2 develops the independence needed to handle longer texts, defend a viewpoint and communicate with more precision. The B2 templates are ready for a staged content release after the current C1–C2 corpus is firmly indexed.

Publication status

Template ready; exercises will be released in stages.

What this pathway is designed to achieve

Move from generally successful communication to consistent accuracy, flexible vocabulary and exam-ready task control.

Core priorities

  • Grammar choices that express contrast, cause and stance
  • Collocations, phrasal verbs and paraphrase control
  • Longer reading and listening with distractor awareness
  • Structured essays, reports and extended spoken turns

Why the exercises are not published yet

Practice English is releasing B1 and B2 gradually after the existing C1 and C2 sitemap reaches a stable indexing baseline. This avoids publishing large numbers of shallow or poorly connected pages. The pathway, metadata and navigation are ready; exercise links will appear only when their content is complete and indexable.

Suggested rhythm

A balanced weekly plan

Treat this as a starting structure. Replace generic repetition with work on the error patterns your completed exercises actually reveal.

  1. 1Two language-system sessions for grammar and vocabulary
  2. 2Two timed receptive tasks followed by close review
  3. 3One productive task using explicit success criteria
  4. 4One mixed review that revisits weak patterns

Framework and exam references

Level labels follow the CEFR. Cambridge exam names and task expectations should always be checked against the current official exam pages and handbooks.
