Living in a car-free city

Today, city life is filled with engines, traffic and fumes to an unprecedented degree, with residents spending much of their time surrounded by different forms of transport. Consider the “pedestrian zone” signs found in many European cities; these are indications that drivers are being (17) ________ requested to refrain from entering zones with private vehicles. Benefits of car-free urban living are easily (18) ________. While travelling around the city, residents can easily (19) ________ local routes and public services within minutes.
