How to ace Multiple Choice Cloze
What does C2 Proficiency Part 1 test?
C2 Proficiency Part 1 tests advanced lexical control: collocations, idioms, phrasal verbs and subtle meaning differences. The best practice is to read the whole text first, predict the gap from context, then compare the four options against grammar, register and natural word partnerships.
The Multiple Choice Cloze section tests your vocabulary. It's not just about knowing words, but knowing which words naturally go together (collocations).
Always read the text before looking at the options. Try to guess the missing word based on context, prepositions after the gap, and the tone of the paragraph.
Key focus areas
- Advanced collocations
- Phrasal verb nuances
- Idiomatic expressions
