C2 Word Formation Practice
Targeted practice for the CPE Part 3. Master advanced prefixes, suffixes, internal spelling changes, and negative forms.
How to Ace Part 3
The Word Formation section tests your morphological flexibility. It requires you to change the base word into the correct part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, adverb) that fits the sentence.
The biggest trap at C2 level is missing a negative prefix (e.g., changing 'EXPECT' to 'UNEXPECTEDLY') or forgetting to pluralize a noun. Always double-check if the context requires a negative meaning.
Morphological Skills:
- Negative Prefixes (un-, in-, dis-)
- Complex Suffixes (-ity, -ation)
- Internal Spelling Changes
